A day after trading out of the first round of the NHL Entry Draft, the Tampa Bay Lightning selected center Mitchell Stephens with the 33rd overall pick Saturday.
Stephens, 18, played 62 games for Saginaw of the Ontario Hockey League last year, finishing with 22 goals and 26 assists. Stephens, a right-handed shot, is 5-foot-11, 188 pounds.
After picking up Stephens, the Lightning spent a busy morning address their organizational depth.
Later in the second round, at No. 44, the Bolts took defenseman Matthew Spencer. Spencer, who is 6-2 and 194 pounds, was ranked 89th overall by Hockey News.
