Lightning owner Jeff Vinik will invest $6 million in upgrading the team's practice facility, the Ice Sports Forum in Brandon.
The plan will create a brand new locker room and training facilities for the team, an 18,000 square foot addition. It will dwarf the current facility, which is about 5,500 square feet. By comparison, the Lightning's facility at Amalie Arena is 14,500 square feet. The addition includes the lockeroom, training room, media room, an expanded player lounge and more. There will be elements not available at Amalie, like hydrotherapy facilities and a video room/theater.
In addition, the Lightning and Ice Sports Forum have agreed to a 10-year lease extension, ensuring the team will be at ISF through at least 2026-27.
