ESPN helps Lightning 'astronaut' reach for the stars

The “astronaut” seen seated along the glass of recent Tampa Bay Lightning games will get added exposure today on ESPN.

The costumed spaceman is at ESPN studios in Connecticut and will appear in segments of “SportsCenter” between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. He will also appear on other ESPN programming until 3 p.m.

The appearances come after video went viral of the character taunting Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price — in the form of a “chicken dance” and salute — during Tuesday night’s playoff game at Amalie Arena.

The astronaut has been a regular at the arena in recent months but isn’t really an all-universe Bolts fan, although he has morphed into the role of front-row mascot.
