WTSP Ch. 10 sports reporter Chris Fischer tweeted photos Thursday morning of Lightning wing Ryan Callahan taking the ice first at the team's morning practice session.
Coach Jon Cooper Callahan had been called "extremely doubtful" for Tuesday's Game 6 against Montreal after a Monday night emergency appendectomy — but never officially ruled him out.
"Stranger things could happen," Cooper said the morning before Tuesday's game. "How long is the game from now? He's a pretty tough kid."
Cooper had said that Callahan's return would depend on his pain tolerance. Some players need time to recover; Wild defenseman Nick Schultz missed almost two weeks after an appendectomy before returning to the playoffs in 2008.
