'Chief' calls last game in Lightning booth

TAMPA — Lightning TV analyst Bobby “The Chief’’ Taylor ended his nearly 40-year career in the broadcast booth with Wednesday’s Game 7, which aired locally on Sun Sports.

Taylor announced at the beginning of the season this would be his last year in his current role. He will transition into a studio analyst job and work between the benches starting next season.

Taylor, a former NHL goaltender, worked games with the Flyers starting in 1977 before joining the Lightning in 1993. NBC will assume exclusive control of all games beginning with the conference semifinals.

“The best part of this is that it’s a Game 7,” Taylor said.
