A prominent building in downtown Tampa turned a bit of Tampa Bay Lightning blue today, hours before the team opened defense of its NHL Eastern Conference championship.
This morning, Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn and former Lightning captain Dave Andreychuk hoisted a Lightning banner along the side of the Tampa Municipal Office Building, 306 E Jackson St.
Fans were encouraged to attend and wear Lightning gear in support of the team.
The Lightning open play in their first-round Stanley Cup playoffs series against the Detroit Red Wings tonight at Amalie Arena. Game time is 7 p.m.
