Brayden Point’s injury opens up a roster spot and might be Alex Volkov’s big chance

Almost immediately after the big news of Brayden Point signing a new contract with the Lightning, General Manager Julien BriseBois informed the media via conference call that Point had hip surgery earlier this summer and won’t be ready for the start of the season.

That announcement removes some of the joy associated with the end of the summer long drama surrounding Point’s contract.
