Bolts' Yzerman named NHL's general manager of year

TAMPA — The Lightning received recognition at Wednesday’s NHL awards show for a record-breaking season and their run to the Stanley Cup Final.

Steve Yzerman captured the General Manager of the Year Award, which was voted on by a panel that includes the 30 general managers, as well as select executives and members of the print and broadcast media. The voting took place at the conclusion of the second round of the playoffs.

Bob Murray (Anaheim) and Glen Sather (New York Rangers) were the other finalists. Yzerman received 80 points, including nine-first place votes, while Sather finished second with 49 points.
