Bolts notes: Players energetic for first day on ice

BRANDON — The first day on the ice at training camp tends to be an enthusiastic one. The testing and physicals are done, and getting right into drills lends itself to an energetic showing from the players.

“The funny thing about today is the amount of players who were on the ice way before practice started,’’ Lightning head coach Jon Cooper said of Friday’s initial practice sessions. “You could tell there was a little excitement, but that will probably change as we move forward.’’

There was plenty of jump in all three practices sessions.

“Everyone looks great so far,’’ captain Steven Stamkos said.
