TAMPA - The saga of the Lightning’s power play is not an untold story.
So much talent, so much promise yet not enough productivity.
Last year Tampa Bay finished the season 14th in power play at 18.4 percent but was plagued by inconsistency and long stretches of inefficiency. That nearly cost a first-round series victory against Detroit when the power play went 2-for-30, with both of those goals coming in Game 2.
This year the Lightning sit 22nd in league with a power play proficiency of 16.9 percent. They have scored more than one power play goal just twice on the season.
