NEW YORK — Off nights for Ben Bishop occur about as often as a lighting storm in an arctic desert.
One of those rare occasions happened on Monday when Bishop was pulled from a 5-2 loss to the New York Islanders as the Vezina candidate allowed a season-high tying five goals on 23 shots in 44 minutes of action before watching the rest of the game from the bench.
“We are so used to seeing him be the rock back there every single night,’’ Lightning head coach Jon Cooper said.
It marked just the second time this season Bishop — in 59 starts — did not finish a game he started for a non-injury related issue.
