Bolts goalie Vasilevskiy won't rush his return

BRANDON — Earlier this summer, Andrei Vasilevskiy looked down during workouts and noticed his left hand turning blue.

No big deal, he thought, after it was gone the next morning.

“I thought, ‘(Stuff) happens,’ ” Vasilevskiy said on Monday.

But when the Lightning’s highly touted backup goaltender arrived in Tampa and skated for the first time to get ready for training camp, he again noticed his left hand was blue.

It was clear something was wrong.

The 21-year-old was sent for testing that showed a vein in his upper chest was being pinched between the collarbone and the top rib, creating a blood clot.
