The highest scoring team in the league fizzled out in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal, losing 3-0 to Detroit at Joe Louis Arena.
The Red Wings took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series with Game 4 scheduled for Thursday in Detroit.
Pavel Datsyuk and Riley Sheahan scored for the Red Wings while Petr Mrazek piched a 19-save shutout.
Ben Bishop finished with 16 saves to take the loss.
Tampa Bay went 0-for-6 on the power play and wasted a near full minute two-man advantage in the second period.
