Goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy was assigned to the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League on Wednesday ahead of Syracuse’s game at Toronto, where he was scheduled to make his first conditioning start.
Vasilevskiy has been out all season after undergoing surgery in early September to alleviate a pinched vein between his collarbone and top left rib. The 21-year-old was taken off blood thinners last week and cleared to resume all hockey related activities.
Vasilevskiy could make his first start of the season with Tampa Bay on Sunday in Carolina, which is the second half of a back-to-back set.
