TAMPA — There’s a party at Matt Carle’s house tonight.
The Carle family will be hosting a shindig for the University of Denver hockey team, which is in town for the NCAA Frozen Four at Amalie Arena. It’s the Pioneers’ first trip to the big (ice) dance since they won a second consecutive national championship in 2005.
Matt Carle, 31, played defense on those Denver championship teams. He now plays for the Lightning, so he won’t be home tonight, as he’s on the road with the Bolts. But among the honored guests will be his younger brother, David, an assistant coach on the DU staff.
