ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Lightning have headed West in search of an elusive reward many from the East find difficult to mine — points.
But the Great California Point Rush might as well be more like the Bermuda Triangle for NHL teams that go in search of victories while facing the trio of Anaheim, Los Angeles and San Jose, only to have points disappear.
For Tampa Bay, which starts the three-game swing tonight in Anaheim, an always-difficult trip takes on more of an urgent tone. The Lightning have lost consecutive games and carry an 11-11-3 record.
“Points, we have to get them now,” alternate captain Ryan Callahan said.
