The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have placed wide receiver Kenny Bell on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, according to Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times. Earlier this week, head coach Lovie Smith shut down any notion of Bell testing out his hamstring, one week after sustaining the injury.
The Times’ Rick Stroud reports that Bell’s issue is an eight-week injury, at best. With the former Nebraska wideout set to lose out on half of his rookie campaign, the Buccaneers have opted to place him on IR.
Bell’s absence sets the stage for the Buccaneers to keep former Clemson wideout Adam Humphries, who was very impressive in Thursday’s preseason finale against the Miami Dolphins with 62 receiving yards on four catches and a touchdown.
