Clearly, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are serious about building up their secondary after finishing dead last in pass defense last year. After taking M.J. Stewart and Carlton Davis on Friday night, they added Pittsburgh safety Jordan Whitehead to the mix with their first pick on Saturday. Tampa Bay now has an influx of young defensive backs to develop in the coming years.
Whitehead, who left Pittsburgh after his junior season, could presumably join 2017 second round pick Justin Evans at the safety position in the next year or so. His talent made him one of the Panthers’ top defenders, starting 30 of the 31 games he played in.
