The Buccaneers have decided to let go of rookie kicker Kyle Brindza, according to the Tampa Bay Times’ Rick Stroud. Brindza’s release comes on the heels of an absolutely brutal two-week stretch where he missed five field goal and two extra point attempts, leaving 17 potential points off the board.
After incumbent kicker Patrick Murray struggled to keep his starting job in the preseason, the Buccaneers looked for a replacement. The Bucs thought they had a diamond in the rough when they traded tight end Tim Wright to the Detroit Lions for Brindza.
In the first two games of the season, it appeared as though the Buccaneers’ gamble was paying off.
