The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released former first-round pick Vernon Hargreaves on Tuesday, a source tells ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The cornerback was benched by Bucs coach Bruce Arians in Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals for lack of effort.
"He didn't look like he was hustling to go in for a tackle," Arians said.
Hargreaves was the Bucs' most experienced corner with 34 career starts under his belt.
