INDIANAPOLIS -- The circumstances surrounding the departure of former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive line coach Jay Hayes didn't get much clarity Wednesday at the NFL scouting combine.
Head coach Dirk Koetter, speaking to the media for the first time since Hayes was fired, was asked why the team waited six weeks after the season was over to fire Hayes -- even though the organization picked up the 2018 options on contracts for all of their assistants. Hayes was the only assistant who was fired. He was replaced by former Arizona Cardinals defensive line coach Brentson Buckner.
