Mike Evans Was a Force on the Deep Ball in 2014

During the 2014 season, Mike Evans was tied for No. 11 among wide receivers in terms of yards per catch at 15.5. That’s a pretty strong number, but it’s not all that surprising when you factor in that Evans topped 1,000 yards on only 68 receptions. What this means, is that Evans was pretty exceptional when it comes to hauling in the long ball. How good was he exactly? Well, according to the following tweet from Pro Football Focus, over half of his receiving yards came on plays of 20+ yards, or “deep passes.”

Mike Evans, the 2nd highest graded rookie WR, gained 55% of his 1051 yards on deep passes (20+ yards) #WinstonToEvanspic.
