All the weeks of research, background checks and countless interviews have led to this moment. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will most likely take Jameis Winston with the No. 1 overall pick tonight. After what general manager Jason Licht estimates as 30 hours of one-on-one time with the former Seminoles quarterback, the Buccaneers appear to be confident in using their franchise-altering selection on Jameis.
Recently, the Tampa Bay Times’ Rick Stroud caught up with head coach Lovie Smith to discuss their stance on Winston with the draft only a few days away. His words were very telling.
“We feel comfortable who Jameis Winston is, what he’s done and what we think he will do in the future as much as anything,” Smith said.
