An Alabama man who shot and killed the 17-year-old brother of Bucs linebacker Kwon Alexander in 2015 was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday, the Anniston (Ala.) Star reported.

Jared Bailey, 25, of Anniston had faced a murder charge in the death of Broderick Taylor but was found guilty of a lesser charge of manslaughter, the newspaper reported. Bailey could have faced a minimum of 20 years in prison. A circuit county judge gave him the maximum sentence of life with the possibility of parole.

Taylor's mother, Sharonda Ball, testified during the sentencing hearing about how her son's death in October 2015 in Anniston still affects her family.
