If it weren’t for Jason Licht’s father Ron, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would most likely not have Kenny Bell on their roster right now. As the story goes, the Buccaneers’ general manager was contacted by his dad, a diehard Nebraska fan, and coerced into picking Bell in the fifth round.
The rave review via text included Mr. Licht talking up the 23-year-old’s hands and character. As the school’s leader in career receptions and receiving yards, the accolades were there. But, prior to declaring for the draft, the two met and that is where Ron came away fully impressed with him, on and off the field.
