Earlier this week, Peter King published an article for The MMQB where he explored how the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ended up drafting Jameis Winston with the first pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Before last year’s draft, general manager Jason Licht loved Winston and from the moment he declared, he wanted to use the pick on the former Seminoles quarterback. But, he needed to make sure everyone from the Glazer family to head coach Lovie Smith to offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter were onboard with the decision.
After getting the approval of the entire Buccaneers organization, Licht got his wish and submitted the card on April 30, declaring Winston as the team’s quarterback of the future.
