Jameis Winston’s sexual assault case will be settled, Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Winston and his accuser, Erica Kinsman, have reached a settlement in the lawsuit she brought last year.
Kinsman accused Winston of raping her in 2012, when both of them were in college at Florida State. Winston said they had consensual sex. A limited and, by most accounts, botched police investigation led to no charges being filed by state attorney Willie Meggs, who said there was not enough evidence to get a conviction.
The sexual assault case and accusation did not stop the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from drafting Jameis Winston first overall in 2015.
