TAMPA — Fifteen years after their Super Bowl season, the Bucs plan to honor the two men they deem most responsible for Tampa Bay's first world championship by inducting late owner Malcolm Glazer and former head coach Jon Gruden into the team's Ring of Honor.
Glazer, who had been in declining health for a number of years after suffering two strokes, died in 2014 at age 85. He will be honored posthumously during a nationally televised Thursday night game Oct. 5 against the New England.
It was Glazer who made an incredibly shrewd trade that transformed the Bucs from perennial playoff contenders under his ownership to world champions.
