Even after loss, Bucs coach Smith sees improvement

TAMPA — Buccaneers coach Lovie Smith stood behind a lectern at One Buc Place on Monday afternoon and asked for more of the one thing Bucs fans seem to have the least of:

Patience.

In the wake of a 19-9 loss to the previously winless Texans that left his team 1-2, Smith asked for patience with the rookie kicker who missed three field goals and an extra point on Sunday.

He asked for patience with a defense that gave up 186 rushing yards to the Texans and has allowed a touchdown in all but one of their opponnets’ nine red-zone opportunities.
