Dolphins cut ex-Buc QB Freeman before training camp

MIAMI — The Josh Freeman Experiment didn’t even make it to Miami Dolphins training camp.

The Dolphins cut the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers starter Friday, the strongest indication yet that they plan to carry just two quarterbacks on their active roster.

Freeman signed with Miami in April after spending the 2014 regular season out of football. He was uneven in minicamp and the organized team activities open to the media, and he never put any real pressure on Matt Moore, who is expected to back up Ryan Tannehill.

It’s another disappointing ending for Freeman, who five years ago was one of the game’s most promising young QBs.
