Carlton Davis says last year’s struggles on defense made them better

BRONTE WITTPENN | TimesTampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Carlton Davis (33) cheers while warming up before the final game of the season against the Atlanta Falcons at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday, December 30, 2018.

TAMPA — The way Carlton Davis sees it, there’s almost no way the Bucs defense isn’t better.

It may because when you allow 29 points per game and opposing quarterbacks have a passer rating of 110.9, the highest in the NFL, there is nowhere to go but up.

Davis, a second-round pick in 2018 from Auburn, was part of the problem. He started 12 games but did not record an interception for a historically bad secondary.
