Bucs sign veteran LB Daryl Smith

TAMPA - For the second time in less than a week on Thursday the Buccaneers dipped into coordinator Mike Smith’s past to fill a hole on the defensive side of the ball.

The latest addition is former Ravens linebacker Daryl Smith, who spent the first four years of his career playing for Smith in Jacksonville, where Smith was the Jaguars defensive coordinator from 2003-07.

Smith, 34, agreed to terms on a one-year contract, according to a source with knowledge of the transaction. He joins cornerback Brent Grimes on the list of newcomers with ties to Smith.
