TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have waived former starting defensive end Jacquies Smith, sources told ESPN.
Smith tweeted about the release Wednesday.

The Bucs released Smith despite the fact they have struggled with their pass rush. In addition, Smith, who suffered a torn ACL in Week 1 of 2016 and missed the rest of the season, had finally gotten healthy enough to play again.
Smith became a restricted free agent this offseason and took a visit to the San Francisco 49ers before ultimately signing his tender.
