TAMPA — That minor roster shake-up the Buccaneers started on Monday with the signing of veteran center Joe Hawley continued Tuesday with the release of four players, including one from the active roster.
Let go by the Bucs was linebacker James-Michael Johnson, who was waived (injured) just nine days after he was claimed off waivers from the Kansas City Chiefs, tight end Cameron Brate, wide receiver Kaelin Clay and guard Martin Wallace.
Brate, Clay and Wallace were all released from the Bucs practice squad, which now has three openings. Johnson’s departure opens a spot on the team’s active 53-man roster.
