TAMPA — The Bucs will open training camp Thursday with two key players held out of practice, as the team announced Tuesday that guard J.R. Sweezy and receiver Louis Murphy will start camp on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list.
Neither player practiced with the Bucs in the offseason — Murphy is recovering from November ACL surgery and Sweezy is recovering from an unspecified procedure this spring. Both can be activated at any point and practice with the team.
The Bucs also waived guard Garrett Gilkey — out since last August after ACL surgery — with a failed physical designation, and signed undrafted rookie Joel Hale.
