Bucs notes: Rookies make first impressions at minicamp

TAMPA — Joey Iosefa knows what it’s like to overcome long odds.

Tampa Bay’s seventh-round draft pick sweated through Friday’s rookie minicamp at One Buc Place, where the 247-pound fullback couldn’t wait to display his versatile skills. Born in American Samoa, Iosefa was a 195-pound quarterback in high school, where he also starred in rugby, soccer and volleyball.

Iosefa flourished as a running back at Hawaii, but his senior season was marred by a DUI arrest last October that led to a three-game suspension. He was stripped of his co-captaincy and almost went undrafted before the Bucs called.
