TAMPA —There’s no such thing as a bad time for a bye week.
No matter when it comes, there’s an aspect of its game a team needs to work on. The Buccaneers will spend a good part of their Week 6 bye trying to patch up their pass defense.
Priot to Monday night’s game between the Steelers and Chargers, the Bucs ranked sixth in the 32-team league against the pass, allowing an average of 202.4 yards per game. But coach Lovie Smith is not happy with a unit that has surrendered a league-high 12 passing touchdowns.
“We haven’t played well enough back there,’’ Smith said of the secondary.
