Bucs' McCoy named grand marshal for St. Pete grand prix

Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy has been named grand marshal for this month’s Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, race organizers said Thursday.

McCoy will take part in pre-race ceremonies and announce, “Drivers, start your engines,” before the green flag drops for the IndyCar main event March 13. Also, Bucs cheerleaders will serve as “grid girls” during the opening festivities.

“It’s an honor to be named grand marshal and represent the Buccaneers and the entire Tampa Bay region ...,” McCoy said in a news release. “This is a marquee event that unites our community with the racing world, and I’m blessed to have the chance to take part.
