Tampa Bay offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter says one of the biggest mistakes the Buccaneers made during their 31-30 loss to the Washington Redskins on Sunday was “100 percent’’ his fault.
Koetter said it was his decision to check into the third-and-goal toss play at the Redskins’ 1-yard line that was stuffed for a 2-yard loss late in the game when a touchdown would have likely sealed a victory for Tampa Bay.
“Let’s get this straight; I screwed it up,’’ Koetter said Wednesday. “Nobody else. Plain and simple. I gave (quarterback) Jameis (Winston) bad information.’’
With no timeouts available, Koetter said he told Winston to run the toss play based on the personnel the Redskins had on the field.
