TAMPA — Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Lovie Smith doesn’t consider himself an expert on groin injuries, but he knows the one keeping left guard Logan Mankins off the field is “serious.’’
“If Logan Mankins is out, he has a serious injury,’’ Smith said. “That’s the only thing that would keep him out.’’
Mankins was injured two weeks ago and missed the Oct. 11 victory over Jacksonville. After sitting out practice on Wednesday, he also could miss Sunday’s game at Washington.
Mankins isn’t the only starter likely to miss the Bucs’ first game after the bye. Tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins (shoulder) and linebacker Bruce Carter (thigh) sat out practice as well on Wednesday.
