TAMPA — You could safely say it’s been a whirlwind month for Bruce Carter.
Signed as a free agent from Dallas in March, Carter appeared ticketed for the middle linebacker job vacated by four-year starter Mason Foster. But only two weeks into training camp, Carter was displaced in the middle by Kwon Alexander, a fourth-round draft pick out of LSU who won over the coaching staff with his speed and smarts.
Now, Carter is competing on the strong side against incumbent Danny Lansanah, who returned two interceptions for touchdwons in 2014 and registered a safety Monday against Cincinnati.
