The Tampa Bay Buccaneers began Sunday’s season-ending loss to the Carolina Panthers with a gruesome leg injury to fullback Jorvorskie Lane.
Lane, 28, sustained a broken lower right leg on the Bucs’ first offensive play from scrimmage. Lane was blocking Carolina’s Thomas Davis when Bucs center Joe Hawley fell on Lane’s leg with 8:30 left in the first quarter.
The injury was deemed so grotesque that Fox Sports refused to show a replay.
As Lane writhed in pain, players on both teams were visibly upset, with many gathering around Lane while medical personnel attended to him.
