Bucs DT Spence suspended 1 game by NFL after marijuana arrest

TAMPA — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have no idea when injured defensive tackle Akeem Spence will be able to play again, but his return apparently will be delayed by more than just offseason back surgery.

The NFL has suspended Spence for one game for being charged with marijuana possession following a traffic stop in rural Alabama early in the offseason, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported.

Spence was arrested in early January after police claim he was driving more than 100 mph. During the stop police found that Spence was in possession of marijuana.

Spence has been sidelined since undergoing offseason back surgery.
