TAMPA — Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy has suffered through personal performance slumps before. It’s been a while, though, since he struggled through one as frustrating as the one he’s battling through now.
“I was sitting in bed (Monday morning) thinking this his frustration level I have with myself right now feels like what I had during my first and second year in the league,’’ McCoy said. “There’s not a fan, a coach or a media member who’s more frustrated with me than myself.’’
The source of McCoy’s great frustration, which might have reached a peak late Sunday when he left the Bucs locker room without speaking to reporters after Tampa Bay’s 32-18 loss to the Giants, is a three-game drought in which he’s mostly failed to make the impact expected of him.
