TAMPA — Tampa Bay Buccaneers right tackle Demar Dotson has apparently concluded that skipping offseason workouts won’t get him the new contract he wants.
Dotson, who skipped the team’s final six voluntary workouts, plans to return to work next week for Tampa Bay’s three-day mandatory minicamp, which starts Tuesday.
“I’m going to be there for minicamp,” Dotson told The Tampa Tribune. “It’s my only chance to make a good faith move and get contract talks going again, so I’ll be there.”
Dotson began his holdout two weeks ago, just as negotiations aimed at securing a new deal for the team’s longest tenured player were entering their final stages.
