TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Mike Smith said Wednesday that he is blocking out talk that he might be a candidate for a head-coaching job and is focused on the job he has.
“Rumors are rampant this time of the year,” said Smith, who helped orchestrate an impressive midseason turnaround, where his Bucs defense went from averaging 29 points and 399 yards allowed per game to 15 points and 324 yards in the last six games. Prior to his arrival in Tampa this season, the Bucs defense was giving up 26 points per game.
