Austin Seferian-Jenkins had every reason to believe the play was over. The whistle had blown, after all, and just as he’d always been taught, the second-year tight end played right to that whistle.
What Seferian-Jenkins failed to do during this training camp drill, though, was remember Tampa Bay Buccaneers defenders such as Johnthan Banks don’t pay all that much attention to the whistle anymore.
They’re being programmed this preseason to focus on taking the ball away and to play until it’s out of the ball carrier’s hands and on the ground, which is where the ball Seferian-Jenkins caught wound up.
