Are Michael Koenen’s days with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers numbered? Following a 2014 campaign where he posted the lowest yards per punt average (40.4) and recorded the fewest punts inside the 20 yard line (17) of his 11-year career, the Buccaneers have actively looked to sign punters who could challenge Koenen for the starting job. At one point, the Bucs roster featured three punters in Koenen, Chase Tenpenny and Andrew Wilder battling it out for the No. 1 spot.
In mid-April, the Buccaneers announced the release of Tenpenny. So, the man who served as the team’s punter for the last four seasons can breathe a little easier, right?
