TAMPA — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have come up short in their bid to get state tax dollars to subsidize the planned $100 million renovation of Raymond James Stadium, at least for this year.
The NFL team’s request for $12 million in state subsidies to revamp their home stadium was rejected by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity on Monday because the team failed to meet a Feb. 1 deadline to provide supporting information. Among the items missing were projections on how much return on investment the state would get.
Bucs officials said they plan to re-apply next year and that the deadline did not fit their schedule for the renovation project.
