Hard-hitting safety John Lynch, a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016, was named Friday as the next member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Ring of Honor.
As reported earlier this week by The Tampa Tribune, Lynch will join the eight previous inductees.
The Bucs made the official announcement Friday afternoon.
“It’s very, very special,” Lynch said at a news conference.
The date for Lynch’s halftime induction ceremony at Raymond James Stadium won’t be finalized until the NFL schedule is released in April.
Lynch, 44, played 11 seasons with the Bucs before finishing his career in Denver.
